Estonian Golf & Country Club member Richard Teder has added another milestone to his career: this week, he becomes the first Estonian to compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship. Taking place at the Olympic Club, near San Francisco, the tournament features 312 golfers competing on the Lake and Ocean Courses. After the opening rounds on August 11 and 12, the top 64 players will advance to the playoffs.

A total of 5,245 golfers took part in the qualifying events, with the world’s top ten amateurs securing automatic entry to the championship, the Estonian Golf Association reports.

Teder’s opening round concluded with a score of 73 (+3), placing him in a tie for 102nd. Fingers crossed for a strong second round!
